“If we can save lives, if we can do it the easy way, fine. And if we need to do it the hard way, that’s fine too,” Trump said during a trip from Washington DC to Florida, as quoted

Trump’s statement came after the US on Monday (24/11) officially designated the Cartel de los Soles (Sun Cartel) as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO).The US says the cartel is responsible for violent incidents on US soil, including for the influx of drugs into Washington and Europe.
The US accuses the Venezuela-based cartel of being led by Maduro and top officials who do not represent the legitimate government.
Relations between the US and Venezuela have been tense since Trump ordered an anti-drug operation in the Caribbean last August.Maduro strongly opposed the operation because it killed many people.
In that operation, the US attacked ships accused of carrying drugs.Maduro accused the US operation of being aimed at overthrowing his government.
Since his first term in office, Trump has been unhappy with Maduro. He has never acknowledged Maduro’s victory since Maduro was elected president of Venezuela in the 2018 general election.
Trump, who returns to office in 2024, also did not recognize Maduro’s victory in Venezuela’s elections last year. His government again accused the election of being full of fraud.
