Iskandar explained that the incident started with an order from the Regent of North Aceh, Ismail A Jalil, to the Head of Satpol PP/WH on Wednesday (10/12) to distribute logistical assistance for the flood disaster.
The aim of delivering the aid to isolated areas in Sarah Raja Hamlet, Leubok Pusaka, Stepan District, was using two Satpol PP/WH trucks.
Then, he said, there was a miscommunication due to the communication channel being down, the logistical aid which was supposed to be sent via the Cot Girek route to Tanggaan, was sent via the Stepan route to Sarah Raja.
However, the road is still cut off because it is still covered by the remains of landslides and mud.
Finally the truck returned to its original route.When he returned, an unwanted incident occurred in Gampong Pante Gaki Bale.
“The Satpol PP truck (BL 8013 KI) was stuck in sticky mud, and the truck had a burst tire,” he said.
Iskandar said the people around the location then came to the location of the truck containing the logistics and asked for it to be distributed on the spot.
“Due to uncontrolled conditions, people were jostling each other and looked emotional, which then caused the truck to overturn and then catch fire. The cause of the fire will be investigated by the authorities,” he said.
Iskandar added that his party was also preparing an official report to the police regarding the chronology of the events that caused the Satpol PP/WH truck to catch fire.
“Yes, we will prepare (a report to the police), a report regarding the chronology of the incident,” he said.
He said the Regent of North Aceh appealed to the public to remain calm, logistics distribution would immediately reach residents in need.
“And ask the refugees to look after each other, so that logistics distribution is even and on target,” he said.
