He added that the government’s attention should not only be focused on affected areas, but also on areas that did not experience disasters so that there would be no price fluctuations ahead of Christmas and New Year (Nataru).
“What is important now is that outside of this disaster, we have to anticipate that prices will not rise in New Year, but we were previously told that prices and supplies were under control from North Sumatra,” said Budi.
Regarding budget support for market revitalization in affected areas, Budi said there had been no special allocation from the Ministry of Trade.
“Not yet from the Ministry of Trade, but later we will try to coordinate again, that’s where it should come from,” he said.
He emphasized that market damage mapping continues to be carried out while coordinating with the regional government. As for other regions outside North Sumatra, the party is also still collecting data.
“Yes, we are coordinating, it’s not easy, it’s problematic,” he said.
Separately, the Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan, stated that he had begun assessing damage to public facilities in the form of markets in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
“We are currently collecting data,” said Iqbal at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12).
He said data collection was carried out in conjunction with efforts to maintain the availability of basic necessities at disaster locations.
“How can people affected by disasters not worry too much about food and then clothes,” he said.
