Freddy said tens of thousands of soldiers were used to carrying out military operations missions other than war (OMSP) at home and abroad.

“These personnel come from units that routinely undergo OMSP training and United Nations (UN) missions, so that basic capabilities, interoperability, logistical preparedness and operations in various fields have been formed,” said Freddy on Saturday (15/11).
Freddy explained that all 20,000 personnel who would be sent consisted of troops in the health sector and engineer units for construction.
Their task, continued Freddy, was to provide health services for war victims as well as build infrastructure for public facilities.
These personnel will also be equipped with various supporting equipment in the health and construction sectors.
“We are preparing field hospital facilities, emergency medical equipment, ambulances, clean water and sanitation equipment, as well as Zeni construction capabilities including heavy equipment and reconstruction facilities,” he explained.
Until now, the TNI is still waiting for approval from the government and the UN regarding sending troops to Gaza.
Previously, Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the Indonesian government had two ways to get approval to send peacekeeping troops to Gaza.
The government must obtain this blessing to ensure that the deployment of peacekeeping troops can run smoothly.
“There are two alternatives. The first alternative is under the auspices of the United Nations (UN),” said Sjafrie.
Indonesia and the UN themselves have long collaborated with each other in sending peacekeeping troops to several conflict areas such as Africa and Lebanon.
To get approval from this international organization, Sjafrie said that an approach and communication between heads of state is needed to create an international level agreement.
Not only that, Indonesia must also get support from countries that are considered competent regarding the conflict in Gaza.
“For Arab countries, namely Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, if they say please, then Indonesia will be happy to involve them,” explained Sjafrie.
“Of course (including) Israel, because Israel is a very competent part of this issue,” said Sjafrie.
