“The Peacekeeping Force contingent is already in the selection stage. Then the plan is to be led by a 3-star general,” said Agus at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Monday (24/11)
He said the plan was for the troops to consist of three composite brigades.This brigade consists of one Health Battalion, one Construction Engineer Battalion, a Mechanical Assistance and Support Battalion.
“Then there is also the air element, we are preparing a helicopter, then a C-130 Hercules aircraft, and we are preparing two Hospital Ships from the Navy complete with helicopters,” he said.
Agus said that his party was still waiting for when they would send troops.Later, the TNI will send an advance team.
“We will send personnel there, as a precursor, to ascertain the conditions there and the deployment of troops there,” he said.
Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said the preparation of the troops was an instruction from President Prabowo Subianto.
“We have received a preparatory order from the President to prepare the Peacekeeping Force under the United Nations (UN). So we will carry out the United Nations mandate,” said Sjafrie.
