“Okay, I want to give you information. Yesterday we wanted to ask the Kodim for help, we wanted to ask for a cavalry car to deliver logistics to Brandan,” said the man in the video.
“Well, the Kodim people asked for IDR 2 million, bro. Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate, bro. Negotiate, bro, with the TNI, in the end we met with another channel with the DPR. Well, the DPR asked for IDR 1 million and asked to negotiate again. In the end, what they said is that you just look for free – there is nothing free in this world. Our country supports the people, it’s okay. It seems like it’s a mess,” he continued.
When confirmed, the Head of the Indonesian Armed Forces Headquarters, Major General (Mar) Freddy Ardianzah, denied that any soldier had made illegal levies (extortion) on the man.

Freddy said that the TNI will always respond to every public complaint and complaints. However, he said, the complaint should not be just a confession.
Freddy also requested that complaints from the public be accompanied by evidence so that checks could be carried out on the units and soldiers in question.
“In the midst of these difficult times, I hope there will be no provocative actions and disinformation from certain parties. Including within the TNI, we do not expect any violations and actions that deviate from the provisions. The TNI’s commitment is clear that it will take firm action against every form of violation committed by its soldiers,” he said.
Freddy also provided a video containing clarification on the man who admitted he was involved in extortion along with his parents. In the video, the man known as Muhammad Asyaf apologizes to the TNI institution.
“I want to clarify that I uploaded a video on the 1st of Monday, saying that I was wrong in speaking against the TNI agency. I want to apologize sincerely without being forced by the TNI agency,” said Asyaf.
