A total of 2,463 areas in Indonesia are categorized as disaster-prone ahead of the celebration
Christmas
2025 and New Year 2026.
This is based on data from the Ministry of Public Works as reported by the Public Hearing Meeting (RDP) with the DPR RI on Monday (8/12).
From this data, it was summarized that there were 807 flood-prone points, 15 tidal flood-prone points and 1,641 landslide-prone points throughout Indonesia.

Sumatra Island is the area with the most disaster-prone points with a total of 749 points, including 175 flood-prone points, 571 landslide-prone points and three tidal-prone points.
Furthermore, Sulawesi Island is in second place with 401 disaster-prone points, including 147 flood-prone points and 254 landslide-prone points, while there are no tidal-prone points.
There are 377 disaster-prone points on Kalimantan Island, 328 points in the Java-Bali region, 307 points in the Maluku Islands, 184 points on Papua Island and 174 points in the Nusa Tenggara Islands.
The government anticipates the potential for natural disasters during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holidays in a number of areas.
Deputy Chief of Police, Commissioner General of Police, Dedi Prasetyo, said that disasters are one of the main focuses in securing Nataru this year.
“Different from the security landscape in 2024, in 2025 there are several focuses of attention. Apart from securing the homecoming route, then the return flow route and security objects that have been determined, we need to anticipate natural disasters,” said Dedi at the National Police’s STIK-PTIK Building, Jakarta, Monday (15/12), quoted by Antara.
Dedi explained that referring to the predictions of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), rainfall from 29 December 2025 to 10 January 2026 experienced quite an extreme increase in various regions, including Java, Lampung, Jambi, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara and West Nusa Tenggara.
