The roar of a motorboat engine breaks the silence of the overflowing river

, Saturday (20/12).Above the murky water left by flash floods, TNI officers and volunteers sat tightly together to maintain their balance with the pile of sacks and aid boxes on the boat.
That is the struggle to distribute aid to Sekumur Village, Sekerak District, Aceh Tamiang, a village that is isolated because land access is limited and only the river route is a more effective area for distributing aid.
The risky water journey took hours.The river, which has turned into a major aid route, is also a habitat for crocodiles.

Several times the boat crew had to slow down the engine when a large reptilian figure appeared on the shore, lurking silently.However, fear was overcome by determination, because aid had to reach the residents waiting in the refugee camps.
Upon arrival at the riverbank of Sekumur Village, the challenge was not over.TNI officers then carried aid sacks through large piles of wood that had been swept away by flash floods.The logs blocked the land route to the refugee camps.Forcing all parties to proceed carefully while keeping logistics dry.
Hope from Refugee Tent
In the refugee tent, the atmosphere changed to emotion.Residents seemed to smile every time help arrived.They lined up neatly, queuing in an orderly manner to receive basic necessities and other daily necessities.
Children followed their parents, while the elderly sat waiting patiently for their turn, as if the fatigue of the disaster had momentarily been relieved.
Residents of Sekumur Village expressed their gratitude and hope.
“We, on behalf of the people of Sukumur Village, would like to say a thousand thanks for all the assistance from the government who has been willing to provide assistance such as basic necessities. However, what we really need is a place to rest on higher ground and housing assistance, because our houses are no longer suitable, many of us even live in shanties,” he said full of hope, written on Saturday (20/12).
Even though they were tired, the officers and volunteers continued to move from one point to another.Rivers, mud and driftwood bear witness to humanitarian work that never stops, to ensure that every affected family feels the presence of the state in the midst of a disaster that still leaves deep sorrow for the residents of Sekumur Village today.
He also hopes that access restoration will be carried out soon.The government, through the collaboration of the TNI and volunteers, is committed to continuing the distribution of aid, reopening road access, and restoring infrastructure so that Sekumur Village can recover and its residents can return to living safely.
