), tells the case of who was fired because he helped an honorary teacher who had not been paid.
Rasnal and Abdul Muis told this during a hearing (RDP) with the South Sulawesi DPRD, Wednesday (12/11).

“It’s a pity that Mr. Rasnal has spent 1 year and 3 months (not receiving a salary) since he left prison. The Supreme Court’s decision was one year ago, he served his sentence and still had his salary secured. 1 month after leaving prison, his salary stopped,” said former Principal of North Luwu 1 Public High School, Abdul Muis during the RDP, Wednesday (12/11).
Rasnal confirmed his colleague’s story. He admitted that he had visited the North Luwu Branch of Bank BPD Sulselbar to determine the cause of his salary not being paid anymore. Then Rasnal was informed that there was an official note from the South Sulawesi Education Service containing an order to withhold salary.
“I went to the bank to see why I didn’t have my salary, it turned out there was an official note from the education department. The bank person said, please go to the department,” said Rasnal.
Rasnal’s case began in 2018, when he was the principal of North Luwu 1 Public High School. He intends to help 10 honorary teachers who have not received salaries for 10 months.
Then, Rasnal and Abdul Muis took the initiative to propose to the School Committee that parents of students work together without coercion. The proposal was approved.
After going through a number of meetings, the students’ parents agreed to pay IDR 20,000 per month for salary assistance for honorary teachers. However, Rasnal’s initiative was actually reported by an NGO to the North Luwu Police on suspicion of criminal acts of corruption.
After a long legal process, the Supreme Court in its cassation found Rasnal and Abdul Muis guilty. Both were ultimately dismissed even though it was said that there had been no dismissal decision from the Supreme Court.
Keep teaching to be sane
Rasnal’s dismissal as an ASN refers to the Decree of the Governor of South Sulawesi Number 800.1.6.2/3973/BKD dated 21 August 2025 concerning Disrespectful Dismissal as a Civil Servant.
Meanwhile, for Abdul Muis, the decision is contained in the Decree of the Governor of South Sulawesi Number 800.1.6.4/4771/BKD dated 14 October 2025, which follows up on the Supreme Court decision Number 4265 K/Pid.Sus/2023 dated 26 September 2023.
Even though he doesn’t get a salary, Rasnal continues to carry out his duties by returning to teaching at SMA Negeri 3 North Luwu in order to maintain his sanity and moral responsibility as an educator.
“I taught for a year and didn’t get paid anything. I thought if I stopped it would be meaningless. I really worked in a state of pain, confusion and oppression,” he said.
Previously, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto provided rehabilitation to Abdul Muis and Rasnal who were fired after helping ten honorary teachers who had not received their salaries.Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, explained that Prabowo signed the rehabilitation letter at Halim Perdanakusuma TNI AU Base, Jakarta.
“Just now, Mr. President has signed a letter of rehabilitation to Mr. Rasnal and Mr. Abdul Muis, a high school teacher from North Luwu,” said Dasco, quoting his statement.
By issuing the rehabilitation letter, the government is restoring the good name, dignity and rights of the two teachers who have been affected by legal problems.
“By providing rehabilitation, the good names, dignity and rights of these two teachers will be restored. May it be a blessing,” he said.
