Indonesian National Rock Climbing Team coach Hendra Basir emphasized that the success in winning two gold medals in the lead event was the result of long-term coaching.The Indonesian Rock Climbing Team has been preparing for four years.
In this long-term development, the National Rock Climbing Team initially set a target of one gold from the lead number.Therefore, the success in winning these two gold medals exceeded the set target.

“Because in this number we are targeting one gold, the probability is in the women’s team. Indeed, the host’s probability is higher than us, so in other words we are stealing gold [in the men’s category],” said Hendra as quoted by Antara.
After successfully winning SEA Games gold, the Rock Climbing Team will not be complacent.Their main target is the 2028 Olympics.
At world level, Indonesia is known to have top athletes in speed events.Meanwhile, in the lead category, Indonesia is still unable to penetrate the competition at the elite level at the 2024 Olympics.
“This [the Olympics] is their main target. We have been developing for the past four years, hopefully in 2028 we can qualify for the Olympics and even become finalists,” said Hendra.
Two Indonesian gold medals in the lead category were presented by Ardana Cikal and Alma Ariella Tsany.Apart from that, Indonesia also won silver from Sukma Lintang Cahyani and bronze from Caesar Mahesa.
