Coach
PSM Makassar
, Tomas Trucha revealed the reasons why his team suffered a 0-1 defeat when they faced North Maluku United in the Super League match at the BJ Habibie Stadium in Parepare, Sunday (21/12).
Even though they appeared dominant throughout the match, PSM was considered too easy to give opportunities to their opponents, especially in the early minutes of the match.
“The match was not easy today. We know that together they have quality and have experience,” said Trucha.

Trucha said that from the start he had emphasized the players to increase opportunities, control the ball, and make lots of movements and breakthroughs.According to him, these instructions have been carried out well by the players.
“Since I came here I told the players, we have to create lots of chances, lots of passes, have more ball control, and make lots of breakthrough runs. And that’s what we did,” he said.
Statistically, PSM is said to be far superior to North Maluku.Trucha said PSM’s ball possession reached 60 percent to 40 percent, and was superior in the number of crosses with a ratio of 15 to 2.
However, this domination failed to produce maximum results.Trucha assessed that the defeat occurred because PSM allowed their opponents too easily to create opportunities that led to goals.
“Why did we lose? Because we made it easy for our opponents. We gave them opportunities in the early minutes and they were able to score goals easily. After that, we didn’t easily convert the chances we had,” he explained.
Trucha highlighted the many wasted opportunities, even though Malut often committed violations, including in the penalty box. This coach from the Czech Republic admitted that he was disappointed with the referee’s decision and VAR not to consider the violation as a penalty.
“In our opinion, the violation against our player was a penalty. But the referee and VAR have their own job. They make the decision whether it’s towards us or the opponent,” he said.
Trucha also assessed that overall PSM Makassar deserved at least one point from the match.
“The substitute gave us fresh energy and our game was better. In my opinion, in this match we deserved a point,” he concluded.
