“The peak flow for the Christmas and New Year holidays is predicted to occur on December 19-20 2025. Then the peak return flow is predicted to be on January 3-4 2026,” said AirNav Indonesia Operations Director Setio Anggoro in Tangerang, Banten, Thursday (13/11) as quoted

Setio said that during the peak period of the Christmas holiday, the daily flight intensity at all airports is estimated to reach 4,300-4,930 flights.
AirNav also estimates that the number of aircraft movements could reach 76,972 flights during the long Christmas holiday.
“The focus of this flight movement is to tourist areas, such as Bali, Yogyakarta, Lombok,” he explained.
To anticipate an increase in flights during the Christmas holiday season, AirNav will ensure the smooth running of all flight navigation systems at Indonesian airports. One of them is by optimizing the role of the Indonesia Network Management Center (INMC), which integrates supervision and coordination of services throughout AirNav’s work area 24 hours a day.
INMC optimization is carried out as a step to quickly adjust routes, capacity and departure sequences when there are spikes or changes in field conditions through the national air traffic flow orchestration center.
Furthermore, Setio explained several operational steps being prepared, namely adjusting air space capacity (Airspace Capacity Setting), sequencing departures and arrivals, coordinating airport slots and operational hours, as well as using alternative air routes (re-routing).
“The ultimate goal is simple, namely that passengers can depart and arrive more smoothly. Efficiency is achieved, safety remains number one,” he said.
Meanwhile, AirNav Indonesia’s Director of Safety, Security and Standardization, Nurcahyo Utomo, said that AirNav Indonesia’s priority is to oversee the implementation of aviation transportation while maintaining safety standards during the Christmas holiday service.
“Any operational changes remain through ‘
safety risk assessment
‘.”Speed may increase, but safety cannot be compromised,” said Nurcahyo.
He also explained increased monitoring of risk factors, such as extreme weather, volcanic ash, hot air balloons and wild kites, as well as wildlife around the airport.
Apart from that, Nurcahyo also said that cyber security is strengthened through the Security Operation Center (SOC) and CSIRT which are on standby 24 hours a day, including sharing threat information with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN).
“AirNav Indonesia ensures that all navigation services in 302 service units from Sabang to Merauke are on full alert to support the smooth travel of the community. In essence, the air space is guarded, the system is guarded, and the people inside are also guarded,” he added.
