The General Chair of the Indonesian Kickboxing Central Management (PP KBI), Ngatino, apologized for the polemic that occurred at
SEA Games 2025
.
The public spotlight is on the complex problems at the 2025 SEA Games which are dragging down Indonesian kickboxing. This was after the Deputy Chair of PP KBI, Rosi Nurasjati, was expelled from the 2025 SEA Games because she was at an athlete’s hotel which required special accreditation. In this case, Rosi does not have accreditation following his suspended status from the Asian Kickboxing Confederation (AKC).
“Of course we apologize if this incident was unpleasant or caused excitement for all of us. That’s what we didn’t want. Thank you,” said Ngatino via long-distance video connection at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/12).

The issue of Rosi Nurasjati’s expulsion from the 2025 SEA Games is not the only one.During a series of competitions, one of the athletes, Andi Mesyara Jerni Maswara, expressed an open protest by uploading a video on Instagram because he felt cheated.
In the video, Jerni said that he was ‘pressured’ by the referee because he was not actively attacking.Jerni claims that not sporadically attacking is part of his strategy.
Later, Jerni won a bronze medal at the 2025 SEA Games. Shortly before the medal presentation, Jerni admitted that he was ‘pressured’ again by representatives of the Indonesian NOC, in this case Krisna Bayu who serves as Exco Member of the Indonesian Olympic Committee.
“Before the medal ceremony, I was pulled by the NOC to take down a video that I had made viral on the grounds that it could damage the reputation of the Asian Kickboxing Federation,” said Jerni in a separate press conference in Jakarta, last week.
Seeing this complicated situation, the Indonesian kickboxing federation, through Ngatino, denied there was any intimidation.According to him, Krisna Bayu’s arrival was a form of diplomacy so that Jerni would still get her right to the bronze medal.
“It’s not true [the intimidation]. So of course the AKC happened because there was a request from the host committee [delete Jerni’s video]. Then the AKC told us that they would not give medals to Indonesia. Specifically for that number,” said Ngatino.
“Or, the [option] requested by the AKC is that we will hand over the medal to the NOC, not to the [athlete] concerned,” he added.
