Murthalamuddin made this statement in response to information circulating in the community regarding the number of victims who died in the Aceh disaster reaching 400 people.
He asked the public not to believe fake news conveyed via social media.”Official news regarding flood victims only comes from the government and other official institutions,” said Murthalamuddin.
As is known, hydrometeorological disasters, both floods and landslides, have occurred since November 18 2025 and have impacted 16 of the 23 districts/cities throughout Aceh.
On the other hand, based on temporary data from the Aceh Flood and Landslide Emergency Response Post, it was recorded that 87,550 heads of families (KK) were affected and 52,162 families were displaced, spread across 184 points.
This disaster also claimed lives with provisional data of 70 people dying. This data is likely to increase considering that communication lines are still cut off in flooded areas.
To ensure their whereabouts, his party continues to coordinate with related institutions, such as the TNI/Polri, hospitals and gampong (village) elements.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Aceh DPR, Saifuddin alias Yah Fud, asked all social media accounts to stop spreading false news or unverified information regarding the flood disaster that hit a number of areas in Aceh.
According to him, spreading false information will only worsen the situation and cause panic among society.
“The current situation is already quite difficult for the affected communities. Don’t add any more information that cannot be accounted for. We firmly ask that social media accounts stop spreading false news regarding the floods in Aceh,” said Saifuddin.
He explained that in the field there were still many areas experiencing communication network disruptions, cut off road access, and erratic weather conditions. This causes the information circulating to be often incomplete, even erroneous if it does not come from official sources.
Therefore, he appealed to the public to only trust and disseminate information that comes from authorized agencies, such as regional government, BPBD, TNI, Polri and other related institutions.
“If there is important information, make sure the source is clear first. Don’t just spread it, especially if the truth is not certain. The impact could be very broad,” said Yah Fud.
