Severe flooding occurred in
Thailand
south this week, especially in Hat Yai near the Malaysian border, causing hospitals to be overwhelmed by receiving bodies on Friday (28/11).
Thai government spokesman Siripong Angkasakulkiat said on Thursday (27/11) evening the number of fatalities due to flooding in Songkhla province had increased from six to 55 people.

According to mortuary officials at Songkhla Hospital, Charn told

, the mortuary room is full due to the increase in the number of dead.
“The mortuary is over capacity, so we need more,” Charn said.
He also said local authorities would bring in three refrigerated trucks.

The head of the Hat Yai district allegedly did not respond to the flood situation, so the Thai government on Friday (28/11) declared him temporary dismissal.
Meanwhile, the local government is using drones and the Thai military is preparing to deploy at least 20 helicopters to send food and medicine aid.
Floods have hit 10 provinces in southern Thailand over the past few weeks, especially in the city of Hat Yai which recorded the heaviest rainfall in 300 years, namely 335 mm in one day, quoted from

Floods caused deaths in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Patthalung, Songkhla, Trang, Satun, Pattani and Yala provinces.The overall death toll in seven provinces is at least 82 people.
On Thursday (27/11) morning, flood waters had receded in many provinces, but water levels were still high in several areas, including Pattani and Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Currently, Southeast Asian countries are experiencing severe flood natural disasters, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand.
The heavy rain that hit the ASEAN region occurred due to the monsoon blowing.The US Climate Prediction Center warned that wet weather is likely to continue over the next week in Southeast Asia.
