Thailand
claims its military operations successfully crippled defense capabilities
Cambodia
to a level deemed capable of neutralizing the threat in the long term.
This statement was made by the Chief of Staff of the Thai Army, General Chaiyapruek Duangprapat, in a statement shared by the military with the media on Monday (8/12), as quoted by Reuters.
Thailand launched air strikes using F-16 fighter jets on Monday (8/12) targeting Cambodia’s military infrastructure.

The counterattack carried out by Thailand was aimed at stopping Cambodian military aggression on the border.

He also accused Cambodia of using “artillery and mortar launchers to attack the Thai military at Anupong Base.
Cambodia began attacking the Thai border at around 3am local time, firing bullets and rockets at Thai military and civilian targets.
The incident killed one Thai soldier and injured seven people.Meanwhile, around 350,000 people in the dangerous area have been relocated.
The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) said the attacks were “activities that could escalate military operations and pose a threat to Thailand’s borders.”
Meanwhile, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnivirakul said his country, “never wants to see violence,” but “will not allow violations of its sovereignty.”
He also said he would take further military action if Cambodia continued its military aggression in the region.
However, Cambodia’s Ministry of National Defense denied Thailand’s accusations and said the attack occurred “after Thai troops carried out various provocative actions for days.”
Both sides accuse the other of launching attacks along the disputed border.
However, as a military comparison, Thailand is much stronger than Cambodia’s military.Thailand has jets whose range can reach the Phnom Penh area, Cambodia, namely the Gripen C/D, F-16 A/B eMLU, F-5TH and T-50TH.
They are also equipped with precision-guided munitions such as the GBU-49, AIM-120 AMRAAM, and AGM-65 Maverick.
Meanwhile, Cambodia has weapons that can reach Bangkok, which need a range of around 200 to 300 km.However, there is no evidence that Cambodia has such long-range missiles.
