Thailand has made a big history in itself
SEA Games 2025
by surpassing the records set by Indonesia and Vietnam.
In the 2025 SEA Games, Thailand collected 233 gold medals.This is a fantastic number or almost half of the total gold medals up for grabs in the 33rd edition of the SEA Games.
At this Southeast Asian Games there are 50 sports being competed.Of these 50 sports, 574 gold medals were up for grabs.

The number of sports competed in the 2025 SEA Games is not a record high.The highest number was recorded in the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, 56 sports.
The total number of medals up for grabs in the SEA Games which took place in three cities: Bangkok, Chonburi and Songkhla, is also less than the 2023 SEA Games in Cambodia (580 gold).
Even so, Thailand set a new record.The history that Vietnam made by winning 205 gold in the 2021 (2022) edition was broken by Thailand with 233 gold.
Thailand’s achievement also broke the history that Indonesia had carved by recording 194 gold medals when it hosted the 1997 SEA Games.
Furthermore, the 34th edition of the SEA Games will take place in Malaysia in 2027. Will the big record that Thailand just set be broken?
Does not seem.This is because the number of sports that will be competed in is smaller.So far the projected number of sports is 38 or a decrease of 12.
