“Thank God, we started to have a network, we couldn’t go anywhere, we could only make phone calls. Thank God, everyone was fine. Only the roads were cut off when we got the information, there were puddles of water in several places,” said Ryan.

On Monday (1/12), Ryan tried to help by uploading to his social media what flood and landslide victims in Sumatra needed.
Teuku Ryan previously could not contact his family in Aceh.His parents’ house was also flooded since the water started rising early in the morning.
“Yesterday I was told by my family in Aceh that the water had started to rise up to a foot since 4 am, I didn’t expect it to be waist deep in the morning and even my parents’ house was drowning,” said Ryan.
“After that, the last news we got was at 11 noon, the water was already high and contact was lost. My cousin was already in second grade. We didn’t know if there was food stock or not. The panic was there, there were a lot of my cousins, the current started to rise at that time,” he continued.
Flash floods and landslides have hit three provinces on the island of Sumatra: Aceh, North Sumatra (North Sumatra), and West Sumatra (Sumbar) since some time ago.
Until now, the evacuation and search process for victims is still being carried out by the joint SAR team.Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has also asked that all national forces be mobilized to handle the disaster in the Sumatra region.
Apart from that, on Monday (1/12) morning, Prabowo flew to Tanah Andalas to directly inspect the locations affected by floods and landslides on Sumatra Island.
The death toll from the floods and landslides that hit North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh increased to a total of 442 people based on the latest data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as of Sunday (30/11) evening.

“Based on temporary data, the total death toll reached 442 people, and 402 people are still declared missing,” said Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto in a press conference at the National Support Post, Silangit Airport, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra, yesterday.
Suharyanto said the joint team of BNPB, TNI/Polri, Basarnas, ministries/agencies and regional governments continued to work to speed up search, rescue, logistics and opening of access operations in affected areas.
