Former President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (

), Alfian Nasution, and former President Director of PT Pertamina Nicke Widyawati became witnesses in the trial of alleged corruption in the governance of crude oil and refined products with the defendant being the former Managing Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga for the period June 2023-2025

In their testimony, as quoted from the press statement of the Riva Siahaan Advocate Team, Alfian and Nicke stated that during the defendant’s time as Director of Central Marketing & Commerce, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) managed to make a profit of more than one billion dollars.

“Witnesses Alfian Nasution and Nicke Widyawati stated that during the period of Riva Siahaan as Director of Central Marketing & Commerce, Maya Kusmaya as VP Trading & Other Business and Edward Corne as Product Trading Manager at PPN, namely in 2021-2023, PPN managed to make a profit of around US$ 1.2 – 1.3 billion, and 90% of that profit was generated from the sale of non-subsidized diesel,” he said.
“This is the highest profit achieved during Pertamina’s existence. So it is not true that there was a loss of IDR 285 trillion,” emphasized the legal team of Riva Siahaan, Maya Kusmaya, and Edward Corne.
In their statement, they said that imports of fuel oil (BBM) were necessary because national needs could not be met as agreed in the downstream optimization meeting (Ophil).He said it was not an individual decision.
Apart from that, it is stated that in carrying out the task of importing fuel, a negotiation process is permitted in order to get the best price.
“In fact, the VAT trading team at this time succeeded in optimizing import procurement costs, meaning it succeeded in getting cheap prices in procurement. The state succeeded in making savings, as based on the TKO [Organizational Working Procedures],” said the attorney for Riva et al.
Previously, Riva et al were charged with committing unlawful acts that were detrimental to the state in importing refinery products/fuel oil and selling non-subsidized diesel.
At the indictment hearing on October 9 at the Jakarta Corruption Court, the Public Prosecutor stated that Riva Siahaan’s crime was committed together with a number of other defendants in the period 2018-2023.
The other defendants involved in this criminal act are the Assistant Manager of Crude Import Trading at the ISC Crude Trading Function of PT Pertamina Persero 2019-2020, Edward Corne;VP Trading & Other Business PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Period 2021 to.2023, as Director of Central Marketing and Commerce of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Maya Kusuma;VP Intermediate Supply PT Pertamina (Persero) 2017-2018, Toto Nugroho.
Then SVP Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) Pertamina for 2018-2020 Hasto Wibowo;Business Development Manager PT Trafigura 2019-2021 Martin Haendra Nata;VP Supply and Distribution PT Pertamina 2011-2015 Alfian Nasution.
The two main cases charged are the import of refined products or fuel oil and the sale of non-subsidized diesel.
The Director of Prosecution (Dirtut) Jampidsus AGO, Sutikno, revealed that the total amount of state losses from the details of financial and economic losses reached IDR 285 trillion.

Riva et al were charged with violating Article 2 or Article 3 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law (UU Tipikor) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 1 of the Criminal Code.
At the continuation of the trial on September 6 2025, the Corruption Court Panel of Judges rejected the objection note (exception) submitted by Riva so that the trial continued to the evidentiary stage.
When reading out the decision regarding the exception, the judge said that the prosecutor had explained the crime that Riva allegedly committed completely and clearly.The judge ordered the prosecutor to present witnesses to prove the indictment.
