Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for the Pacitan Police, AKP Choirul Maskanan, said that Mbah Tarman had been detained at the Pacitan Police Headquarters since last Thursday (4/12).This was done after his party carried out an investigation and collected evidence of suspected fake checks.
“Yes [Mbah Tarman was declared a suspect} after at least two pieces of evidence were met,” said Choirul, Friday (5/12).

Choirul said that Mbah Tarman was proven to have falsified the dowry check documents for his wife.He was also charged with Article 263 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code concerning the crime of forgery of documents.
“We have arrested him regarding document falsification,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tarman’s attorney, Imam Bajuri, said that his party respects the applicable legal process.There were no further legal steps or efforts regarding his client’s detention.
“We just respect the process,” said Imam.
Previously, Tarman was reported by someone to the Pacitan Police on suspicion of a fake IDR 3 billion dowry check, on Monday (13/10).Pacitan Police Chief AKBP Ayub Diponegoro Azhar admitted that he had received the complaint.
“It’s true, there have been reports (complaints) regarding the IDR 3 billion check which was used as a dowry,” said Ayub when confirmed, Tuesday (14/10).
Ayub did not reveal the identity of the reporting party.He only confirmed that the reporter was not related to the woman who was Mbah Tarman’s bride.
“The complainant is an ordinary person. There is no family relationship with the woman [bride],” he said.
In the midst of this report, Tarman’s attorney, Imam Bajuri, said that his client’s dowry check disappeared when it was kept in his wife’s room five days after five marriages.
“Yes, the check was lost in Sheila’s room, his wife’s room. Yes, five days after the wedding reception,” said Imam.
This case started when Sutarman or Mbah Tarman (74) married his wife Sheila Arika (24) with a dowry in the form of a check of IDR 3 billion, in Jeruk Village, Bandar District, Pacitan Regency, Wednesday (8/10).The public was excited.Later there was news that the check was fake so it couldn’t be cashed.
