Paleontologist Alan Grant (Sam Neill) struggles to get funding for his Velociraptor research.He tried to prove the hypothesis that they were intelligent and social creatures.

He gets encouragement to continue from his now-married ex-girlfriend, Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern), and her assistant, Billy Brennan (Alessandro Nivola), who use 3D printing to replicate a Velociraptor’s larynx.
In the midst of the situation, wealthy couple Paul (William H. Macy) and Amanda Kirby (Téa Leoni) offer to fund Alan’s research in exchange for an air tour of Isla Sorna, claiming they have permission to fly there.
Alan is initially reluctant, but eventually agrees and flies there with Billy, two of Kirby’s fellow mercenaries, Udesky (Michael Jeter) and Cooper (John Diehl), and their pilot, Nash.

When Kirby tries to ask Nash to land the plane, Alan protests and is knocked unconscious by Cooper.
He awakens to find they have landed, and the Kirbys refuse to leave, until a Spinosaurus approaches them.They try to escape, but the dinosaur attacks their plane as it takes off and kills Cooper.
The plane crashes in the jungle and the Spinosaurus kills Nash and swallows Paul’s satellite phone.The survivors escape, encountering a Tyrannosaurus, which is soon defeated by a Spinosaurus as the humans flee.
The Kirbys later confess that they are a middle-class couple looking for their son, Eric, and Amanda’s boyfriend, Ben Hildebrand, who have been missing eight weeks and were last seen illegally parasailing near the island.
The government agency refuses to help, so they trick Alan into getting their help, thinking the Paleontologist has experience on Isla Sorna.
The group searches for Eric and Ben, and finds Ben’s corpse tied to a parasailing near a Velociraptor nest.They began to explore the surrounding area without realizing that someone was actually lurking.
