National Disaster Management Agency (
BNPB
) announced the total number of victims who died due to hydrometeorological disasters
flash floods and landslides in Sumatra
which occurred sporadically at the end of last November, reached more than a thousand people as of Saturday (13/12).
Head of the BNPB Disaster Information and Communication Data Center, Abdul Muhari, said the number of victims was spread across three provinces of Sumatra – West Sumatra, North Sumatra and Aceh.
“As of today [Saturday], from our data, the general death toll from the recapitulation of 3 provinces shows 1,006 people,” he said at a press conference on the same day.

According to Muhari, of this number, the largest are in Aceh with a total of 415 people.Meanwhile in North Sumatra, the death toll reached 349 people and in West Sumatra it reached 242 people.
A day later, as of Sunday (14/12), BNPB announced that the total number of deaths had increased to 1,016 people.Meanwhile, the number of missing and searching victims is 212.
Muhari said that the search for missing victims in 13 city districts was still ongoing.In Aceh, he said, focused searches were carried out in Bener Meriah, North Aceh, Central Aceh and Bireuen Regencies.
Then in North Sumatra, focused searches were carried out in three districts, namely Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli and Sibolga City.Then in West Sumatra it is in four districts, namely Agam, Padang Panjang, Padang Pariaman and Tanah Datar.
“Because there are channels that may intersect with surrounding districts, so this is still being continued, as I said earlier there were residents from district A but they were found in district B, this was then identified

“This will be seen based on the civil records concerned or what district the victim is in,” said Muhari.
