In Aceh, repairs to the Teupin Reudeup (Awe Geutah) Bridge, which is an alternative route to Bireuen-Lhokseumawe, have been 100 percent complete. The bridge with a broken span of 36 meters is targeted for completion on December 18 and is now passable, even with a one-lane open and close system.
“Currently, there are still queues for logistics at the Awe Geutah Bridge because the access is one lane. We continue to urge the public and volunteers to queue orderly so that the bridge can function optimally,” said Abdul.
Meanwhile, the Teupin Mane Bridge which connects Bireuen and Bener Meriah is functional again, but still uses an open and close system. The Kutablang Bridge on the Bireuen-Lhokseumawe main route recorded repair progress of 81.5 percent, with the length of the bridge that had broken reaching 50 meters.
Repairs were also carried out on the Jumpa or Cot Bada Bridge on the Bireuen City road.To date, progress on the bridge with a broken span of 18 meters has reached 86 percent.
Apart from restoring road and bridge access, BNPB also ensures logistics distribution, especially to meet the community’s energy needs.Abdul said that 37.5 drums of fuel oil (BBM) and 60 LPG cylinders had been prepared.
One tank truck loaded with diesel has also arrived at the Aceh Tamiang Regent’s Office and will be distributed in stages to residents.
In other areas of Sumatra, BNPB reported that progress on repairs to the Bailey bridge and national roads continues. As of December 20, treatment on the Tarutung-Sibolga national road corridor had reached 170 locations out of a total of 177 affected points.
“There are still several landslide points with a length of around 100 meters that cannot be accessed by heavy equipment,” said Abdul.
BNPB ensures that coordination with local governments and related agencies continues to be carried out so that infrastructure restoration and aid distribution can run optimally, while maintaining the safety of residents in the field.
