According to Nawipa, both parties have agreed to promote sustainable tourism in Central Papua by preserving nature and empowering the local economy.
“We appreciate the visit of the Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles to Nabire Regency, hopefully it will bring new hope for regional development,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Ambassador of the Republic of Seychelles to Indonesia, Nico Barito, said that his party wishes to optimize the tourism potential in Central Papua because the natural resource potential is not much different from that in the country in East Africa.
He believes that Central Papua has great potential in managing natural resources, tourism and investment which can increase regional income if managed properly.
“Cleaning beaches, planting mangroves, and cultivating organic fish and shrimp can become new economic sources,” he said.
He added that with community involvement and good management, conservation areas in Central Papua can continue to be protected for at least the next decade.
“We envision cooperation with banks to form a conservation and development fund. In this way, Central Papua will have resource security for the future,” he said.
