Christmas and New Year celebrations (

at the Cikini Gold Center parcel sales center, Central Jakarta, actually complained that parcel sales tended to be stagnant, even decreasing compared to last year.
Rows of beautifully decorated deliveries are still neatly lined up in the stalls. The traffic of buyers did not seem as dense as last year.Only one or two people were seen asking questions at several stalls to traders.
A parcel trader named Sri admitted that sales this year were quieter than last year, even though Christmas and New Year celebrations were just around the corner.

“Last year it was busier, usually on this date (December 22) orders would start to be busy, but now it’s quiet,” said Sri when met

at the Cikini Gold Center Parcel Sales Center, Central Jakarta, last Monday (22/12).
Sri also said that during the last month during the period leading up to Christmas, only around 200-300 parcels were sold. This figure, continued Sri, tends to decrease compared to the same period last year.
So that there are not too many parcel sales

Sri adapts many gift themes to suit consumer tastes and budgets, from food parcels to glassware.
“Now it’s more tailored to consumers’ tastes and budgets, whatever they want. Food parcels start at IDR 300 thousand to IDR 400 thousand, for glassware parcels they can start at under IDR 1 million,” he explained.
He suspects that gift sales have fallen due to the possibility of Christmas being close to Chinese New Year and Eid al-Fitr.
“Yes, it’s quieter now because there’s still Chinese New Year and Eid (Eid al-Fitr) coming up,” said Sri.
Likewise, an employee at a different kiosk named Asep also confirmed that parcel sales were busier just before Eid.According to him, the culture of sending gifts during Eid al-Fitr is more common than during Christmas.
“Usually there are more parcel orders during Eid al-Fitr, because people are more likely to give them,” said Asep.
Asep admitted that at the Nataru moment he was working more on parcels for consumers who had subscribed, both from companies and individuals.
“For Christmas I usually do a lot of work that I already have a subscription for, from the office or just by myself,” he added.
A parcel buyer named Kristi confirmed that he was more selective in purchasing parcels. He made a price list, the number of parcels he wanted to buy and who to send the parcels to.The reason is, this Nataru moment is close to Eid al-Fitr.
He circumvented the shopping budget by giving Nataru parcels only to people who felt like Christmas. This was done so that he could send Eid gifts to Muslim relatives and friends during Eid al-Fitr.
“So later for people who are celebrating Eid, I can also give something like that,” he concluded.
