imposed sanctions and prohibited the entry of four citizens
Israel
, who is accused of involvement in extremist violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
The four Israeli citizens are Meir Mordechai Ettinger, Elisha Yered, Ben-Zion Gopstein, and Baruch Marzel.
“These individuals were involved in extreme violence against Palestinians in the West Bank,” said a statement from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), as quoted

“This kind of action violates the law and undermines and threatens the existence of a two-state solution,” the statement continued.
Based on a number of reports, the four names mentioned by MFA Singapore have links to extreme right-wing groups.
Meir Mordechai Ettinger, 34, the grandson of Meir Kahane, the US-born Israeli rabbi accused of calling for the mass expulsion of Arab citizens.
On August 6, 2015, the Times of Israel reported, Ettinger was arrested by Israel’s domestic intelligence service, the Shin Bet.The arrest alleged that he was involved in the burning of a Palestinian house in the West Bank which killed two people and their 18-month-old baby.
Ettinger is also known as the leader of the Hilltop Youth group.The group was sanctioned in 2024 by the European Union and the United States Treasury Department.The US describes it as a party that repeatedly attacks Palestinians in the West Bank.
24-year-old Elisha Yered, a member of Hilltop Youth, was arrested by Israeli authorities in September 2023 for the shooting of a 19-year-old Palestinian youth in August 2023 after Palestinian settler clashes.
Ettinger and Yered are now subject to sanctions by Australia, Canada and the European Union.
The 54-year-old Ben-Zion Gopstein, founder of Lehava, an extreme right-wing Israeli group, has ties to Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
In January 2024, Gopstein was found guilty of inciting racial hatred for frequently making provocative statements to Arabs between 2012 and 2017, and calling them “cancers”.
Meanwhile Baruch Marze was 66 years old, part of the Lehava, disciples of rabbi Meir Kahane, as was Gopstein.
According to the Jewish National Front’s archive website, the religious right-wing political party disbanded in 2012, and Marzel became the rabbi’s “right-hand man,” founding the extreme Kach party.
Gopstein is now sanctioned by the US, Canada and the European Union, while Marzel is sanctioned by the European Union.
The MFA emphasized that Israeli settlements in the West Bank violate international law, because their existence will make it more difficult for a realistic two-state solution.
“We call on the Israeli government to restrain acts of violence against settlers and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable,” said the MFA.
On September 22, Singapore’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vivian Balakrishnan, said they would impose sanctions on the leadership of a radical right-wing settler group for violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
This policy was taken after the Israeli government decided to continue construction of the E1 settlement in the West Bank.This development is considered to be able to divide the region and disrupt the connectivity of Arab cities in the Palestinian region.
