reports distributors are delaying screenings in consideration of the performance of the Japanese film market and the feelings of Chinese audiences.
They also added that the company will follow market rules and respect viewers’ choices by delaying broadcasts.
Film distributors said Takaichi’s “provocative remarks” would influence Chinese audiences’ perception of Japanese films.
Economic expert at Edith Cowan University in Western Australia, Naoise McDonagh, said the delay followed a common pattern in China’s political approach.
“China typically chooses trade targets that are not vital to the country, but this impacts on Japanese companies, causing financial burdens and symbolic stress,” McDonagh told

These events allow China to show that those who act against its interests will suffer the consequences.
“Gives China a certain amount of influence on other governments’ decision-making processes related to its red lines,” McDonagh said.
The delay came after China appealed to its citizens not to travel to Japan and the deployment of warships to waters near the Senkaku Islands.
On Monday (17/11) Japan also issued a travel advisory for China, warning its citizens to respect local customs, stay away from crowds and be careful in interactions with Chinese citizens.
