) is finally revealed.The police confirmed that the bones were those of M Yudha, a 23 year old youth who had disappeared two years ago.
Even though the identity of the victim has been confirmed, the police are still investigating the cause of death and how Yudha came to be in the palm tree trunk.The skeleton has also been handed back to the family.
Serdang Bedagai Police Chief, AKBP Jhon Sitepu, said that confirmation of M Yudha’s identity was obtained after a series of DNA tests on samples of thigh bones, ribs and teeth from the skeleton.As a result, all samples matched the DNA of the victim’s father, Amrita Hamid.

The discovery of this skeleton occurred in Pematang Ganjang Village, Sei Rampah District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra on Tuesday (9/9/2025).Two residents, Rian and Aldi, saw bones on the trunk of a sugar palm tree that had been dead for four years and had just fallen due to strong winds.
“They found the bones after seeing cracks in the trunk of a fallen tree,” said Head of Public Relations for Sergai Police, Inspector LB Manulang.
The discovery was reported to the police and then linked to the missing report made by Amelia (53), Yudha’s mother.The family believes the skeleton belongs to Yudha after recognizing the items found at the location.
“The victim’s sister saw trousers that were identified as Yudha’s before he disappeared,” said Anggiat, a family representative.
