“Lumajang Regent’s Decree Number 100.3.3.2/610/KEP/427.12/2025 emphasizes that emergency management efforts must continue to be carried out quickly, precisely and in an integrated manner,” he said.
Even though the previous emergency response status has ended, residents are still feeling the impact of the eruption and have the potential to disrupt people’s lives and livelihoods.
“The extension of the emergency response status is valid for seven days, starting from November 26 to December 2 2025,” he said.
This decision provides a legal basis for all regional apparatus, especially the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), to continue to carry out emergency management, restore infrastructure and protect affected residents.
“Extension of the emergency response status is not just an administrative procedure, but a form of regional government commitment to protect the community from the risks of disasters that still exist,” he said.
According to him, all parties must work together, starting from regional officials, volunteers, to the community, so that post-disaster handling runs smoothly and is on target.
BPBD Lumajang Regency is also ready to strengthen coordination of all stakeholders, monitor the condition of refugees, ensure the availability of logistics, and carry out risk mitigation on an ongoing basis.
“With this step, it is hoped that the social and economic impacts of the Semeru eruption can be minimized, while affected residents continue to receive maximum protection,” he said.
He also encouraged the public to remain alert, maintain personal safety, and follow the directions of officers in the field.
“The regional government also ensures that all emergency assistance and services will continue to be available to residents in need, including health facilities, evacuation and infrastructure restoration,” he said.
With the extension of the emergency response status, Lumajang Regency has once again demonstrated the spirit of mutual cooperation and preparedness in facing natural disasters.
“The safety of citizens is our main priority. Let everyone face this situation calmly, with discipline and supporting each other,” he said.
