, or about 13 kilometers from the peak. The movement of this material was observed to increase as high-intensity rain fell on the area around Semeru since Saturday (22/11) morning.
Head of the Geological Agency’s Volcano Mitigation Team, Heruningtyas, reported that at around 10.50 WIB lava flows began to be seen in the Lanang River.Six minutes later, the lava flood was detected to have advanced as far as Gladak Perak, one of the vulnerable points in the river’s flow route.
“The lava has reached Gladak Perak,” said Heruningtyas in a written report shared via the Geological Agency’s communications group.

He said this condition was triggered by heavy rain which caused volcanic material on the Semeru ridge to move again following the river flow.
Bad weather also makes the visual of Mount Semeru completely covered.According to observer reports, rain started falling at 10.00 WIB so the peak area could not be monitored directly.
“Residents who are active around river basins are asked to increase their vigilance. The potential for lava floods or hot clouds could occur at any time,” warned Heruningtyas.
In seismic monitoring, vibrations were detected with a maximum amplitude of up to 35 mm, indicating internal activity that needs to be watched out for.
Until now, the status of Mount Semeru remains at Level IV or Watch. The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources reiterates its appeal for the public, tourists and economic activity actors to stay away from dangerous zones and follow the recommendations that have been submitted by the authorities.
