“The problem was that the bus overturned and the damage was quite serious, many victims were trapped,” said Budiono when contacted, Monday (22/12).
Even though there were problems, the evacuation process has been completed.A total of 34 victims have been taken to the nearest hospitals, including RSP Kariyadi, Columbia Asia Hospital and Dr Adhyatma Hospital, MPH or Tugu Hospital Semarang.The evacuation process was completed at around 04.00 WIB.

According to Budiono, the bus was allegedly speeding and lost control, hitting a road divider and eventually overturning.The condition of the bus frame was destroyed.
“The cause of the accident itself is not yet known for certain, but it is suspected that the bus lost control while speeding from Jakarta to Yogyakarta early this morning. The body of the bus suffered quite serious damage. So we have to be careful when evacuating so that the victims can survive,” he said.
Budiono said the death toll had risen to 16 people.
“When we evacuated 19 people survived and 15 people died, after arriving at the hospital one additional person died so 16 people died,” he explained.
Bus number B. 7201 IV, which departed from Jatiasih Jakarta to Yogyakarta, had an accident in the early hours of Monday at around 00.30 WIB.
Basarnas, Semarang Search and Rescue Office, which is currently carrying out a Special SAR Alert for Nataru (Christmas and New Year) at the Kalikangkung Joint Command Post, Semarang City, which is currently on alert, immediately went to the location to carry out SAR handling.
