so serious.
Many houses were swept away, badly damaged and buried in mountains of mud.Geographically, Blang Awee Village is located on the river bank and not too far from the Pidie Jaya Regent’s office.
Midah said that the incident started on Wednesday (26/11) in the morning at 02:00 WIB, heavy rain poured down.At that time they thought it was just normal rain and would not cause the Krueng Blang Awee river to overflow.

However, at around 06.00 WIB, Midah and the residents were shocked because the water started to enter the houses quickly, carrying wooden materials and even tree branches.
“About 2 hours the water entered the house then I was shocked, this water is different. This is not water but mud,” said Hamidah to

when met in a refugee tent, Saturday (29/11).
The flow of mud made people’s mobility in the area slow. They were no longer able to save their belongings and could only look for a higher place so as not to be swept away by the current, precisely in the West Cot Rot area.
After almost 12 hours of leaving home, Midah was shocked to see her village in ruins. Some were left on the ground, buried in mud until they collapsed. The road was covered with mud up to 1 meter.
“Our village was destroyed, the residents here lost everything. We need help,” he said.
Another victim, Nora, also did not expect the rain which caused flooding in her area to be that serious.Usually, he said, it doesn’t submerge residential areas.
“Usually it reaches the river, not reaching the settlements,” he said.
Pidie Jaya Regent Sibral Malasyi said that more than 45 houses in Blang Awee Village were badly damaged. In fact, 90 percent of the village was destroyed and no longer suitable for habitation.
From the data received, two residents there were found dead and one is still missing.
“Everything was damaged and even lost in the flood currents. 90 percent of this village was destroyed. The residents fled to the West Cot Rot point,” said Sibral.
With the condition of the village no longer suitable for habitation, most of the residents now occupy temporary evacuation points.Logistical needs and health services are still urgently needed following the increasing number of affected people.
