Chairman of the DPD PDI Perjuangan (
PDIP
) East Java Said Abdullah said that his party can no longer apply salon politics, jargonistic politics, which rely solely on image.
Said said this on the sidelines of the East Java PDIP Simultaneous Regional Conference (Konferda) and Branch Conference (Konfercab), at the Shangri-La Hotel Surabaya, East Java, Saturday (20/12).
“Our policy direction seems to be starting to shift, that as an ideological party we are no longer allowed to use jargonistic politics, salon politics, adorn ourselves, dress ourselves up, but not connect with the needs of society, the interests of society,” said Said.

Said said that his party wanted to avoid all of that.He also asked PDIP cadres throughout East Java to focus on listening to the needs and requirements of the community, especially Generation Z and Generation Alpha.
“So because we want to avoid all that, all levels of the DPD and DPC must prepare themselves to always be good listeners to the needs of the community, especially for Gen Z and Gen Alpha voters,” he said.
To this day, said Said, his party is still looking for the right formula and listening to input from the younger generation, through group discussion forums (FGD) and the Red Talks forum which was held some time ago.
“Gen Z is not anti-political parties. Gen Z is disgusted with political behavior, behavior. That’s why I said earlier, we have to leave salon politics behind. Salon politics is the politics of decorating oneself, conforming to oneself without empathy. Well, that will no longer have a place in PDIP,” said Said.
Said said Gen Z’s input would also be discussed in the agenda of the East Java PDIP Simultaneous Regional Conference which will be held today. His party, he said, would make adjustments to the suggestions of the younger generation.
“There’s a lot of input, but we have to sort it out and sort it out, sort it out again and discuss it and now there are pre-conditions, there is a pre-commission before entering the Konferda event to articulate the various inputs from Gen Z,” he said.
Furthermore, Said said that the East Java PDIP Simultaneous Regional Conference-Confercab Conference was not a moment of farewell, but rather an opportunity to strengthen Party solidarity and consolidation.
According to him, PDIP is not just a political organization, but also a forum for struggle with a shared vision and ideals to realize community welfare. Therefore, he reminded all cadres not to get caught up in personal interests or short-term pragmatic interests which could damage the collective spirit.
“The PDI Perjuangan family is a political community that has aspirations to realize common goals. Don’t prioritize personal interests or short-term pragmatic interests. Avoid things that harm the Party’s good name, because that will ultimately harm us all,” he said.
