“We note the ongoing and deliberate efforts to increase tensions with our ally, Venezuela. Unilateral decisions that pose a threat to international shipping are very worrying,” said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (18/12), quoted

They then said, “Hopefully the Trump administration, known for pursuing rational and practical policies, will stop before making a fatal mistake and refrain from escalating tensions in a direction that could lead to unpredictable consequences for the entire Western Hemisphere.”
Russia then asked the two parties to carry out political dialogue to resolve the ongoing tensions.
“We believe that steps to defuse the situation and find solutions to existing problems and differences, respecting the norms of international law, are necessary,” the statement continued.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also emphasized that Latin America and the Caribbean must remain a zone of peace that guarantees stable and independent development for countries in this region.
Russia then showed their solidarity with the struggling Venezuelan people, and supported the Maduro government in protecting the country’s national interests and sovereignty.
Recently, the United States and Venezuela have been tense.The US even deployed troops to Ecuador to work together to fight drugs.
Ecuador and Venezuela are neighboring countries separated by Colombia.
Since September, the US has intensively launched operations against drugs.They even shot at ships in the seas off Venezuela and Caribbean waters under the pretext of the operation.
Even though these ships were carrying civilians.The shooting was also carried out without trial.
Venezuela views Trump’s efforts to eradicate drugs in the region as just a pretext, his real intention is to overthrow Maduro’s government.
