Coastal flooding or tidal flooding
hit a number of areas such as Pesing Poglar and Jelambar Baru,
West Jakarta
, Thursday (4/12).
“The problem is, there are leaks from the ‘sheetpile’. So if there is a tidal flood, the water overflows, it comes out into the road or water channel,” said Head of the West Jakarta Water Resources Sub-Department (Kasudin), Purwanti Suryandari when contacted, quoted from

Purwanti said his party installed embankments with sandbags as temporary relief.According to him, the peak of tidal flooding is predicted to be on Saturday (6/12), including in West Jakarta.
“Yes (sea water is overflowing) until December 6 tomorrow, the peak is estimated,” he said.
After the tidal flood subsides, his party will permanently close the leaks in the “sheetpile”, which is currently still covered with sandbags.
“Later, if it doesn’t collapse, we’ll cast the sheetpile leak,” he said.
Specifically for flooding in the Jelambar Baru area, the Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency deployed a mobile pump unit to deal with inundation.
Head of Grogol Petamburan Subdistrict, Raditian Ramajaya, said that the inundation that hit the residential areas of RW 06 and 07, Jelambar Baru Village, occurred since 08.00 WIB.
The inundation was caused by heavy rain and high tide (tidal) from Angke and Grogol Rivers.
“The height of the puddle was originally 10 centimeters. Currently the water level is as high as an adult’s ankles,” said Raditian.
His party has coordinated with the West Jakarta (Jakbar) SDA Sub-Department by deploying pumps to overcome inundation in the area.
“There is a mobile pump machine with a capacity of 500 liters per second which is used to deal with flooding,” he said.
