“(Later) I called, immediately sent the supplied rice there. But I don’t think it’s possible for that amount (the price of the rice). But we supplied it because there was rice at the location,” he said at a press conference at the Ministry of Agriculture, South Jakarta, Tuesday (2/12).

He ensured that the government had coordinated with relevant ministries and institutions to maintain food availability in flood-affected areas.
“Oh yes, we are coordinating with the Minister of Home Affairs (Tito Karnavian) directly and there will be no food shortages. We guarantee that,” said Amran.
Amran explained that the rice distributed came from disaster reserves.The distribution process was made quickly and did not wait for official administration because the situation was an emergency.
“This is rice, it is a reserve for disasters. Yesterday we asked for 100 tons. We asked for 50 (tons). We immediately took it out now. We called, the letter followed. Why? This is an emergency,” he said.
He added that coordination was taking place with the Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Perum Bulog, and regional governments.
On this occasion, Amran also explained the total assistance collected by the Ministry of Agriculture together with strategic partners and employees for flood victims in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
The total assistance reached IDR 73.57 billion, consisting of goods assistance worth IDR 21.44 billion and financial assistance amounting to IDR 52.12 billion.
This aid includes cooking oil, rice, medicines, pampers, sugar, milk, mineral water, biscuits, instant noodles and various other basic necessities.
Based on presentation data, cooking oil is the largest component with a value of more than IDR 9.3 billion, followed by rice around IDR 1.3 billion.Meanwhile, other aid categories, including milk, instant noodles and domestic daily necessities, also added to the total value of aid distributed.
Amran said that this aid would be sent in stages starting tomorrow, with most of it being basic necessities that residents really need.He highlighted the role of Ministry of Agriculture employees and agricultural business actors who participated in donations, where some employees even donated part of their salaries.
Since the start of the disaster, the Ministry of Agriculture together with Bulog have distributed 40 thousand tons of rice and thousands of tons of cooking oil to the three affected provinces through regular and non-regular channels.
Amran ensures that food reserves are available in warehouses in Sumatra, Aceh and Padang so that areas in need can immediately obtain supplies.
He also said that coordination with regional heads lasted 24 hours.A request from the Mayor of Lhokseumawe, Sayuti Abubakar, for example, was immediately followed up so that distribution was not hampered.
“Rice cannot be empty, we have a lot of rice,” he stressed.
Large floods and landslides have hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra since the end of November.In Aceh alone, more than 443 thousand people were affected and hundreds of victims died.
Basarnas recorded 447 deaths from three provinces, with evacuations and searches still ongoing.Thousands of houses, public facilities and agricultural land were damaged as a result of the disaster.
