investigate the motive behind the murder of FAN (21), a student at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), which was allegedly carried out by a member of the Probolinggo Police with the initials AS.
So far, the police have revealed indications of a motive for hurt feelings and the possession of goods.
In this case, East Java Regional Police investigators have named two suspects, namely AS and SY.

Head of Sub-Directorate for Jatanras, Ditreskrimum Polda Jatim, AKBP Arbaridi Jumhur, said that investigators again confronted the suspects to match their respective statements.
This step was taken before the police carried out pre-reconstruction in order to analyze in detail the role and chronology of the incident.
“So today we are confronting them again. Because there are several different statements from the two suspects,” said Jumhur at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters, Surabaya, Monday (22/12).
According to Jumhur, pre-reconstruction was carried out to determine the location, method of execution, and who had the idea to throw the victims into the river.The entire series is still in the fact-matching stage.
“So we have to check again and tomorrow we plan to carry out pre-reconstruction. We will check the relocation regarding its execution and how they carried it out and whose idea it was to throw it, the plan to throw it into the river,” he said.
Regarding the motive, investigators are still conducting an in-depth investigation by examining the victim’s surroundings, including where he lives and the people closest to him, in order to connect all the available information.
“Yes, we are still investigating it because there are still differences, right. Regarding the motive, we are still investigating it, we are cross-checking because we also carried out an inspection at the boarding house yesterday. We also checked our friends who are studying, we also checked the boarding house mother to make sure it all connects,” he said.
From preliminary information, the police revealed that there was suspicion of hurt feelings and the perpetrator’s desire to control the victim’s belongings.However, this motive will still be tested through further in-depth research in order to obtain complete and accurate conclusions.
“The provisional statement says it hurts, there is also something related to wanting to own something like that. That’s why we are still using the statement to match the motive,” he said.
Meanwhile, regarding possible motives related to the victim’s family and details of the injuries suffered by the victim, the police chose to wait for the results of the reconstruction which will be carried out in the near future.
Previously, a UMM student, FAN (21), a resident of Tiris District, Probolinggo Regency, died and his body was found in the river on Jalan Raya Purwosari Pasuruan, Wonorejo District, Pasuruan Regency, Tuesday (16/12).
Since FAN’s body was discovered, the police have taken several actions, starting from receiving reports, investigating the crime scene, then taking the victim to Bhayangkara Hospital for identification and autopsy.
Furthermore, the police have also examined witnesses who found the body or were aware of the incident.They also collected evidence related to the incident.
The police also arrested AS, a member of the Probolinggo Police, who was suspected of being involved in the alleged murder of FAN.Investigators are currently still pursuing another perpetrator because he is said to have not acted alone.
