Thick clouds appeared on Tuesday and caused heavy rain at the festival site.

The organizing committee was busy directing global guests to take shelter, both in hotels, film screening venues, and at the Souk exhibition location.
Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky had just taken the stage when thunder rumbled across the city.The director’s presentation was the final event of the day’s festival because film screenings and other activities were canceled in response to the government’s flood warning.
In Saudi, heavy rains often result in flooding and road closures that last for hours.
“Due to the unstable weather and heavy rain in Jeddah today, Tuesday, December 9, the Culture Square and Red Sea Market will be closed all day to ensure everyone’s safety,” the Red Sea Film Festival said in a statement.
“All film screenings, activities and programs today are cancelled. Please continue to follow our official channels and applications for the latest information,” continued the organizers.

The National Center for Meteorology (NCM) said these climate changes underscore the importance of strengthening monitoring, proactive forecasting and ongoing research to understand atmospheric changes in the Oil Country.
