released four political prisoners charged with incitement related to demonstrations at the end of last August.
The four defendants are the Director of the Lokataru Foundation Delpedro Marhaen, Lokataru Foundation staff Muzaffar Salim, admin @gejayanmemanggil Syahdan Husein, and Riau University student and student alliance admin Suing Khariq Anhar.
“Acquitted the defendants, including Defendant I Delpedro Marhaen Rismansyah, Defendant II Muzaffar Salim, Defendant III Syahdan Husein and Defendant IV Khariq Anhar from all charges,” said TAUD representative, M. Fadhil Alfathan Nazwar, when reading a note of objection or exception at the Central Jakarta District Court, Tuesday (23/12).

“Release the defendants from detention immediately after the interim decision is read,” he continued.
TAUD asked the judge to declare that the indictment of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) did not meet the formal and material requirements, and therefore had to be annulled by law.
“Restoring the abilities, good name and dignity of the Defendants to their original position,” said Fadhil.
In this exception, TAUD emphasized that the Defendants’ actions were not a criminal act, but were a form of freedom of expression that should be protected.
Apart from that, the prosecution carried out against the defendants constitutes criminalization of human rights defenders.
TAUD also highlighted that the indictment against the Defendants did not meet the formal requirements of the indictment because it was not signed by the Public Prosecutor.The Public Prosecutor’s first, second, third and fourth indictments were also not accurate, clear and complete so they must be declared null and void.
“The indictment against Defendant I, Defendant II and Defendant III is unclear because there are differences in the articles between the indictment and the determination regarding the detention of Defendant I, Defendant II and Defendant III,” said Fadhil.
