Suthida contributed a gold medal to the hosts in the event’s sailing or sailing competition
SEA Games 2025

The wife of the King of Thailand Maha Vajiralongkorn competed in the mixed keelboat event SSL47, using a 47 foot (14 meter) sailboat, along with nine other crew members.

The 47-year-old queen served as both tactician and helmsman, leading the Thai team to victory in Pattaya waters and ahead of Malaysia and Myanmar.
The gold medal is scheduled to be awarded directly by her husband, King Vajiralongkorn (73), today.

Ratu Suthida is a communications graduate and worked as a flight attendant for Thai Airways before pursuing a career in the military.
Known as an active athlete, Suthida also ran a half marathon in Bangkok this month with a time of 2 hours 13 minutes 40 seconds.He ran with Kenyan athletics legend, Eliud Kipchoge.
Queen Suthida led the Thai delegation at the opening ceremony of the SEA Games held on December 9 in Bangkok.
Suthida is not the first member of the Thai royal family to win gold in sailing.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej, father of King Vajiralongkorn, competed in the fourth edition of the SEA Games which was held in Thailand in 1967.
Competing in the OK class with a boat he built himself, Bhumibol won the gold medal with his eldest daughter, Princess Ubolratana Rajakanya, according to the official SEA Games website.
The SEA Games will end on Saturday this weekend.Host Thailand is currently far ahead in terms of medal tally, followed by Indonesia and Vietnam.
A total of 11 countries were originally scheduled to participate, but Cambodia withdrew citing security reasons following war between the two countries that has flared up again on the border to this day.
