Oliver Glasner was openly disappointed with the bad results, because Crystal Palace were eliminated from the English League Cup.Even so, he was happy with his team’s improvement in the second half.He also praised goalkeeper Walter Benitez.
“On the other hand, I am happy with the second half performance today, especially after the first half performance, which was really bad,” said Glasner as quoted on the club’s official website.
“Walter Benitez kept us in the game, but the second half was much better, it was an even match,” added Glasner.
This season, Crystal Palace has gone to penalty shootouts three times in total. However, they were unlucky because they lost in the third penalty shootout against Arsenal.
“We’ve had two penalty shootouts this year, and we won both, and today Arsenal were the lucky team,” said Glasner.
Glasner also hopes that other parties will not blame their players for the defeat.
“To be honest, I’ve watched a lot of penalty shootouts in my life, but I don’t remember ever seeing so many well-executed penalties. There’s always someone who has to miss, and today it was one of our players, but there’s no one to blame,” said Glasner.
