praised the performance of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (
DJBC
) which is claimed to be difficult to bribe.
Purbaya expressed praise when conveying the results of the Customs action which he claimed was the largest, namely the confiscation of 11 million illegal cigarettes.
The value of the evidence is estimated at IDR 23 billion, while the potential loss to the state that was saved reached IDR 12.5 billion.

“Customs and Excise are now more active in carrying out raids and inspections, they are almost difficult to bribe anymore. So, the arrests are getting bigger and bigger,” praised Purbaya to Customs and Excise at the Press Conference of Our APBN at the Ministry of Finance, Central Jakarta, Thursday (18/12).
“This is the biggest series of actions, 11 million illegal cigarettes were recovered,” stressed the State Treasurer.
Purbaya explained that DJBC had arrested 3 foreign nationals (WNA) at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in the illegal cigarette case.He emphasized that the arrest was a follow-up to information from the public.
He revealed that illegal goods came from Dili, Timor Leste.It is claimed that the illegal cigarettes were smuggled through unofficial routes, aka rat ports, in stages, then stockpiled in Atambua, Belu, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
“The arrests were carried out synergistically at the boarding lounge for overseas departures at Soekarno-Hatta Airport when the three of them were leaving Indonesia. Currently, the three suspects have been detained at the Salemba Detention Center, DJBC Head Office Branch. And coordination has been carried out with their country’s embassy in Indonesia,” explained Purbaya.
“In the future, things like this will be further improved and I am sure the results will be even greater,” he concluded.
The praise for DJBC is inversely proportional to the threat of suspension that Purbaya made last month.At that time, the minister said the directorate’s image was bad, even in the eyes of President Prabowo Subianto.
Purbaya even asked President Prabowo for a special year to clear Customs.If it fails, DJBC will be suspended and 16 thousand employees will be laid off.
