Minister of Finance (Minister of Finance)
Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa
admitted that Rp. 45 billion was needed to develop a sophisticated information technology (IT) system for the Directorate General
Customs and Excise
(DJBC) in order to prevent
smuggling
.
“I want a change. Previously, Customs and Excise affairs made you nervous, now it’s the smugglers who are nervous,” said Purbaya at the inauguration of the container scanning equipment at Terminal 3 and Mustika Alam Sari Terminal, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Friday (12/12).
Efforts to change Customs Excise are carried out through the implementation of container scanning tools, aka X-Ray, as well as two digital innovations, namely Self Service Report Mobile (SSR-Mobile) and Trade AI.

Purbaya explained that the new X-Ray is capable of detecting nuclear materials and radioactive substances in containers. In fact, it is claimed that inspections can be carried out quickly and accurately without opening the container.
The State Treasurer admitted that the technology was not really ready to be implemented throughout Indonesia, especially since the funding still came from internally.
Purbaya said trials had also just been carried out on 145 goods import notifications (PIB).
“In the future, for deeper development, to make it more sophisticated throughout Indonesia, we estimate that we will need to invest around IDR 45 billion more to develop the IT system,” he explained.
“Yesterday we checked 145 PIB, from there we checked quickly and we got additional, if the AI was large, maybe more than several billion. But when
double check
“again, in all kinds of fields, we can get an additional IDR 1.2 billion,” added Purbaya.
He said the potential income from the scanner would benefit the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) in the future.
