Indonesia could grow up to 6 percent in 2026.
Purbaya believes that the Indonesian economy has started to improve since changes in a number of policies.According to him, growth will creep up starting at the end of this year.
“Next year I estimate it will be even faster, maybe around 6 percent. If the current policy continues to be implemented well, we are in the right direction,” said Purbaya when met in Jakarta, Sunday (16/11).

Purbaya predicts that Indonesia’s economy will accelerate beyond Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Perry Warjiyo’s estimates.He estimates that the Indonesian economy will grow 5.6-5.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025.
He also said that the fiscal deficit would continue to be maintained.According to Purbaya, the deficit will not exceed 3 percent.
“The deficit is still safe, we are keeping it below 3 percent, so you don’t need to be afraid that I will violate the principle of prudent fiscal management,” he said.
Previously, the government targeted economic growth of 5.4 percent in 2026. This target was revealed when Sri Mulyani still held the position of finance minister.
In the third quarter of 2025, Indonesia’s economy will grow 5.04 percent.The Indonesian economy based on the size of gross domestic product (GDP) for the third quarter of 2025 at current prices is IDR 6,060 trillion.Meanwhile, GDP at constant prices is IDR 3,444.8 trillion.
The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said that economic growth has an impact on job creation.
The number of unemployed people fell by 4,000 people to 7.46 million people.The open unemployment rate (TPT) fell from 4.91 percent in August 2024 to 4.85 percent in August 2025.
