The discussion on subsidies, according to Purbaya, was the subject of a working meeting with the Head of the Danantara Investment Management Agency, Rosan Roeslani, and Commission XI of the DPR RI.In the end it was decided to hold the working meeting behind closed doors.
“Earlier in discussing increasing the efficiency of subsidy distribution, that was the main thing. So, we analyzed and looked around and it turned out that there were several obstacles in terms of subsidy distribution, in terms of design as well,” said Purbaya after a closed working meeting with Commission XI of the DPR RI in Central Jakarta, Thursday (4/12).

“We see that there are still people who are relatively rich or wealthy, super rich in Indonesia perhaps, who still receive subsidies. In the future we will see how this can be improved,” he continued.
According to Purbaya, the Ministry of Finance, Danantara and the DPR RI agreed to redesign the subsidy strategy so that it is truly targeted.
He confirmed that the time period set for the repairs was two years.
Purbaya gave the example that subsidies for super rich people in the decile 8, decile 9 and decile 10 groups will later be cut significantly.
In fact, Purbaya plans to allocate subsidy funds for poor people.
“There was no (secret discussion), I also don’t know (why the meeting was decided to be closed), I just went along. Maybe I was afraid I would talk nonsense,” explained Purbaya.
Separately, the Head of BPI Danantara Rosan Roeslani confirmed that the discussion in the closed meeting was related to subsidies and compensation.He emphasized that the government wants subsidies and compensation to be fairer and more targeted.
