Nova Arianto was officially introduced as coach of the U-20 Indonesian National Team at GBK Arena, Jakarta, Thursday (20/11).Zwiers is optimistic that the 46 year old coach will be brilliant because of his prospective track record.
“There are several competencies being considered for the U-20 Indonesian National Team. The coaches needed must understand the Indonesian football landscape and Nova really knows the potential of the young generation of players,” said Zwiers, Thursday (20/11).

Previously, Nova Arianto was the coach of the U-17 Indonesian National Team.Nova brought the Garuda Muda squad through to the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup as well as qualifying for the 2025 U-17 World Cup.
“He has good relationships with the club with his leadership abilities. I often discuss with him, he is a person who makes a lot of observations, can inspire players and staff to be in the same direction,” said Zwiers.
“He is also ambitious and has the best motivation for Indonesia. The point is that he already understands what it means to be a national team coach. Moreover, he is a person with an open mind and is humble,” added Zwiers.
Furthermore, Zwiers is enthusiastic about welcoming a series of programs and competitions that the U-20 Indonesian National Team will go through.He believes Nova Arianto can work optimally.
In the next two years, the Indonesian U-20 National Team will be looking at the 2027 U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.But before that, there are regional tournaments such as the 2026 AFF U-19 Cup and the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.
“This is a great moment, happy and proud to have Nova in the U-20 National Team to prepare the next generation. Nova is a great person with great leadership to form sustainable local players,” said Zwiers.
“Nova has worked well in the World Cup. I am enthusiastic about working with her to move up in class at U-20 to qualify for the U-20 Asian Cup as the top eight in Asia,” he emphasized.
