President Prabowo Subianto
stressed that the government would not abandon communities affected by disasters
flash floods and landslides
in Sumatra.
Prabowo conveyed this when greeting disaster victims at MAN 1 Langkat Refugee Post, North Sumatra, Saturday (13/12).
Prabowo said none of the victims should be left to face the disaster alone.

“I will continue to monitor from day to day, week to week. Hopefully we will help all residents who experience disaster. We will help because brothers and sisters are part of all of us. We will not leave you alone,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also expressed his appreciation and thanks to volunteers, officials and all parties who have worked together to deal with the disaster, helping residents so that conditions continue to improve.
“All officers, all volunteers, thank you. Those who have worked here for dozens of days, thank you all,” he said.
Prabowo assured that he would provide for the needs of refugees in the Langkat region.He claimed that North Sumatra’s condition was better than the last time he came.
“Later the deficiencies have been reported to me, lack of clean water, repair of embankments. (TNI) Army, Police, all our forces, thank God, North Sumatra has been better since I last came,” he said.
The number of deaths due to floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra has almost reached 1,000 people.Meanwhile, 226 people are still missing.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that the death toll as of Friday (12/12) was 995 people.This number increased from the previous day which was 990 people.
