“On December 10, Vladimir Putin will hold talks with the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, who will be in Moscow on a working visit,” said an announcement from
Kremlin
.
The Kremlin also stated that the talks would focus on issues of strategic partnership between Russia and Indonesia, as well as several current international and regional issues.
Last June, Prabowo also visited Russia and met with Putin.
The meeting resulted in an agreement on direct flights between Russia and Indonesia, increasing the number of Indonesian students in Russia and economic and trade agreements.
Not only that, the two heads of state also gave each other gifts.Prabowo gave a statue of an eagle and an officer’s sword to Putin.
“This is the Garuda [statue]. Garuda is the symbol of our country,” said the Indonesian president.
They walked back to the next table.There, Putin showed another gift to Prabowo, namely an officer’s sword.
“And this is an officer’s sword,” Putin said.
Putin was seen taking a coin near the sword box and giving it to Prabowo.He then thanked him for giving him the coin.
“It’s a Russian tradition that when giving a sword you have to give cash [coins],” said the translator.
Putin was seen twice giving coins to Prabowo.The President of the Republic of Indonesia then showed another souvenir to the President of Russia.
“This is a keris from Bali and only four or five people can make this,” said Prabowo.
Putin expressed his thanks while smiling and shaking Prabowo’s hand.The two looked familiar.
