.The electric rickshaws were distributed by the National Solidarity Movement Foundation (GSN).
Deputy Chairman of the GSN Foundation, Nanik S Deyang, said that his party had distributed 2,303 electric trishaws to elderly trishaw drivers.Some of the funds for purchasing the rickshaw came from Prabowo’s personal pocket.
“GSN is currently distributing electric trishaws. We have distributed 2,303 electric trishaws. This is from Mr Prabowo’s personal money,” said Nanik at the Presidential Palace complex, Jakarta, yesterday (21/11).

He said that the electric trishaw distribution program had been carried out since 2024, before Prabowo became president.
“At that time, you were still Minister of Defense,” he added.
The distribution of pedicabs began on the island of Java, targeting recipients aged 60 years.Nanik claims that the distribution of electric trishaws can improve the welfare of elderly pedicab drivers.
“Thank God, their income has increased, at least three times. And I’m also surprised that now (becak drivers) are so enthusiastic. At first it seemed like these old people had lost hope, because they have been using becaks for decades but they always lost out to motorbike taxis, to other things, yes. Then their energy also decreased, but with them getting electric trishaws it will be easier,” he said.
GSN will expand the electric trishaw program to reach 10 thousand units.These pedicabs are produced by LEN and Pindad.For 2025, Nanik targets distribution of electric tricycles to reach 5,000 units.
Nanik revealed that Prabowo actually also offered business capital assistance options for elderly pedicab drivers who wanted to switch jobs.However, the elderly rickshaw pullers chose to stay with their old jobs.
“Indeed, the President said something like this, Don’t be a pedicab, if necessary, we will provide business capital.”But not everyone has an entrepreneurial spirit, right?”They have been driving pedicabs for 40 years, that can’t be changed, they have to trade,” said Nanik.
“So maybe later if we want to trade, we will provide capital.But for those who continue to use pedicabs, we will provide electric trishaws.”God willing, soon we will give the 10 thousand,” he concluded.
