Prabowo’s warning was not without reason.The reason is that the Regent of South Aceh, Mirwan MS, left his area which was hit by a disaster to carry out the Umrah pilgrimage.
The inspection team from the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) has even rescheduled Mirwan’s examination.
On that occasion, Prabowo did not forget to express his thanks to regional heads who continue to work tirelessly to save the people.
“Thank you regents, those of you who continue to fight for the people, you were indeed chosen to face difficulties,” said Prabowo.
Prabowo admitted that he received reports that field conditions were quite worrying.He said agricultural fields were damaged, and housing had to be rebuilt.
“Then I received a report that the conditions were quite worrying. Many of the rice fields were also damaged. Are there farmers here? Irrigation is very important. Then the governor and regent reported that there was quite a lot of housing that we had to help rebuild,” he said.
Previously, South Aceh Regent Mirwan MS was in the spotlight after carrying out the Umrah pilgrimage during the flood and landslide disaster that hit 11 sub-districts in his area.Mirwan MS himself has issued a letter of inability to handle flood and landslide emergency responses.
The letter was published by Mirwan on November 27 with number 360/1315/2025.Then on December 2, Mirwan actually went for Umrah with his family while there were still residents in the Trumon area taking refuge in refugee camps.
South Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf alias Mualem claims that he refused and did not grant Mirwan’s wish to perform Umrah during the flood.
The request for permission to travel abroad was submitted by the Regent of South Aceh to Mualem on November 24 2025. However, he did not grant it because at that time Aceh was being hit by a hydrometeorological natural disaster.
“The Governor has submitted a written reply that the request cannot be granted or rejected,” said Aceh Government Spokesperson, Muhammad MTA, Friday (5/12).
Mualem assesses that South Aceh Regency is one of the areas seriously affected by floods and landslides.The Regent himself has declared an emergency response status for handling flood and landslide disasters in South Aceh Regency.
The Gerindra Party has officially fired Mirwan as a cadre after going on Umrah with his family when his people were hit by floods and landslides.
“It is very unfortunate for the attitude and leadership of the person concerned, therefore the Gerindra DPP has decided to dismiss the person concerned as Chair of the South Aceh Gerindra DPC,” said Secretary General of the Gerindra Party Sugiono, Friday (5/12).
